Hucknall Town U.19抯 1 Hallam U.19抯 1
Played 10th November 2004 at Watnall Road

A keenly contested game ended all square as Hucknall Town U.19抯 played host to Hallam U.19抯 in their latest league game.

Hallam made changes to the team beaten by Hucknall a week ago in the league cup, most notably in goal where James Sales took over from Bowker who endured a torrid time conceding four last week and he acquitted himself well on numerous occasions as Hucknall piled on the pressure thwarting man of the match Junior Harding, lively Adam Meakin and his strike partner Eugene Francis in quick succession.

On the half hour Hucknall抯 best chance fell to Aaron Ryan but his far post header was again saved by Sales.
Two minutes later, Adam Podmore beat the home offside trap only for Town keeper Jason Fisher to come out on top in the one on one, smothering the forward抯 weak effort.
Fisher had a solid game with his distribution much improved from the previous week but odmore was unlucky shortly afterwards as his header struck the upright.
Five minutes later an Adam Meakin free kick rattled the bar and the game remained goalless at half time.
Town started the second half the brighter and were rewarded after 49 minutes as good work by Martyn Burke following a short corner saw the midfielder抯 cross turned in by Francis.

Ryan and Harding saw shots just go by the post as Town pushed for a second and Hallam were restricted to long range efforts however, they levelled in the 65th minute as a free kick swung into the area found the unmarked Marples who headed home.

With five minutes remaining, big defender Romaine Graham had his header spectacularly saved by Sales and in the last minute, Harding抯 effort was well saved by the overworked keeper.

Town line up: 1 Jason Fisher 2 Anthony Newton 3 Liam Hutchinson 4 Aaron Ryan 5 Romaine Graham 6 Kevin Spriggs 7 Junior Harding 8 Martyn Burke 9 Eugene Francis 10 Adam Meakin 11 Luke Hutchinson.
Subs: Joe McShane, Morgan Whitehurst, Ryan Walters, Adam Tolley, Ashley Sheppard.

Town Man Of The Match: Junior Harding.

Northern Under 19 Alliance League Cup
Played at Hallam 3rd November 2004

Hallam FC 3 Hucknall Town FC 4

Hucknall Town U.19's secured a place in the next round of the league cup in an entertaining tie that was settled by a wonder goal from Adam Meakin.
Meakin had been brought on as a substitute for the Antwon Bonnick early in the second half and caused the Hallam defence problems every time he touched the ball and in the 70th minute he cut in from the left to unleash an unstoppable drive into the top corner from 25 yards giving home keeper Dowker no chance.
Town had started the game in explosive fashion being two up after just seven minutes.
In the second minute, Town were ahead when a good ball out to the right found Kyle McDermot who skipped past the full back and shot across the keeper and five minutes later, a carbon copy move saw McDermots shot saved but the impressive 15 year old, Luke Hutchinson was on hand to rifle home from the edge of the area.
Ten minutes later, Hallam should have reduced the arrears with a glaring miss at the far post however, they did just that on the half hour when a free kick was swung into the area for Richard Dale to finish with his head unchallenged.
Town restored their two goal advantage when Luke Hutchinson left a defender for dead to put over a pin point cross from the goal line for Martyn Burke to head home at the back post.
On the stroke of half time, an horrendous error by Town keeper Fisher found the ball at the feet of Adam Podmore who finished calmly.
On the hour, it was a Kevin Spriggs error that let Podmore in for his second to bring Hallam level before Meakins goal settled the game.

F.A.Youth Cup Played 29/09/04
Gornal Ath.u.19s 4 Hucknall Town u.19s 4 aet. Gornal win 5-3 on penalties
The Hucknall Town youngsters acquitted themselves well away in a tricky first hurdle of the F.A. Youth Cup at West Midlands side, Gornal Athletic eventually losing out on penalties after they had been one minute from progressing into the next round. Forced to play an inexperienced side due to the age restrictions in the F.A.Cup and on a pitch not up to the passing game, Hucknall struggled to make an impact in the early stages and it was no surprise when Gornal took the lead on 20 minutes with Esp scoring from close range and ten minutes later they could have doubled their advantage but Eardley fired over from inside the goal area.
They were made to pay for the miss shortly after as good work from Luke Hutchinson and a delightful through ball from Adam Meakin saw Morgan Whitehurst pull Hucknall level.. Antwon Bonnick forced a good save from home keeper Wood and on the stroke of half time, Junior Harding saw his 30 yard effort crash against the upright. Hucknall started the second half the brighter of the two sides with Martyn Burke firing wide and Luke Hutchinson forcing a save from the keeper and they took the lead just after the hour when Meakin latched onto a loose ball to fire home into the bottom corner.
Further chances fell to Hucknall with Burke seeing his header cleared off the line and Man Of The Match Leon Aikman's effort just going over, however in the last minute of normal time, slack defending at a corner saw Parsons equalise for the home side. In extra time, Gornal quickly scored twice through substitute Nash and Hucknall looked out of it only for Harding to convert a disputed penalty with ten minutes remaining and Romain Graham popping up in the area to head home from a Ryan free kick. Town then missed the first of their penalties and Gornal scored all five to cap off a highly match that could have gone either way.
Hucknall Town:
1 Tom Easom 2 Martyn Burke 3 Liam Hutchinson 4 Tom Evans 5 Romain Graham 6 Leon Aikman 7 Junior Harding 8 Morgan Whitehurst 9 Antwon Bonnick 10 Luke Hutchinson 11 Adam Meakin. Subs: Aaron Ryan, Theo Jarratt, Charlie Niblett, Joe McShane, Rorie Francis.

Mickleover Sports U.19's v Hucknall Town U.19's

Played at Mickleover 13th September 2004-09-15

For the second week, Hucknall found themselves scoring five as they overcame a very competent Mickleover side to keep up their 100% start to the new campaign.

Both teams started brightly with chances at both ends and it was Mickleover who felt unhappy with the referee's display seeing two goals disallowed in the first 20 minutes due to marginal offside decisions and at times venting their anger at the officials. Carl Spencer tormented the home defence throughout and a good run down the right with a first time ball found no Hucknall striker on hand to finish however on the half hour, Antwon Bonnick latched onto a through ball to beat the oncoming Stones at the second attempt. 10 minutes later, a superb pass inside the full back found the overlapping Kyle McDermott who rifled an unstoppable drive past the keeper.

Mickleover immediately retaliated and Chris Moss found room and with only Tom Easom to beat, he pulled his shot wide. The second half saw the home side in the ascendancy and Easom was called into action twice as he saved another Moss effort then saved bravely at the impressively named Channon North's feet. In the 55th minute, Town were awarded a penalty when Bonnick was impeded by the home keeper and the lively Eugine Francis calmly slotted home.

Five minutes later, Francis doubled his tally, latching onto a Spencer through ball before beating Stones. Easom was again busy, saving twice in quick succession from Anthony Jackson, the second a brilliant one handed effort and Mickleover grabbed a lifeline after 70 minutes through North and two minutes later could have grabbed another as a goalmouth scramble eventually saw the ball cleared. Substitute Rorie Francis beat the offside trap on 82 minutes to complete the scoring for the locals and Mickleover's Colt Hughes rounded the evening off with a second consolation with the last kick of the game. Town man of the match: Liam Hutchinson

Entertainment value: 9/10
